Our Proc[us]
At Uptic Studios, we pride ourselves on being more than just designers, we’re guides. Matthew, one of our co-founders, often describes our role as being the sherpas of the design world, carrying the baggage, navigating the valleys, and guiding our clients to the peak of completion and beyond.

This hands-on approach means we’re not just sketching ideas and stepping back. We’re in the trenches, problem-solving alongside our partners, and building lasting relationships every step of the way.

Bi-weekly meetings, ongoing touchpoints, and consistent guidance are the backbone of our process, allowing us to address challenges as they arise and keep projects on track. We believe that every project is a journey. One that requires steady guidance, careful planning, and a team that’s deeply invested in the outcome.
It’s about turning ideas into reality, from the first sketch to the final walk-through.
Our Projects
This month, we are excited to highlight the project we’ve dubbed Cedars Cabin.

Nestled in the stunning landscapes of North Idaho, this modern retreat is a testament to the power of thoughtful collaboration. From design to interior elements, we’ve maintained a tight feedback loop with clients and consultants, ensuring every decision aligns with the project’s vision.

The 2,500-square-foot cabin is designed to embrace its lakeside setting with minimal impact on the land. The form is shaped by low-slung rooflines and natural materials that echo the tones of the surrounding pines, while extensive glazing draws in filtered light and frames views of the water.

A central glass bridge connects the two primary volumes, creating a light-filled passage that floats above the terrain. Outdoor living spaces extend from the home, offering an intimate connection to the forest canopy and lake beyond. Interior finishes continue the warm, organic palette, balancing refinement with a sense of grounded simplicity. Every design move reflects a careful respect for the site’s character and a desire to live lightly within it.

Our People

Our team includes talented designers like Eren Davis, whose keen eye for detail plays a critical role in bringing each project to life from the outside in. Eren’s ability to blend form and function ensures that every project is not only beautiful but also deeply connected to the people who will use the space.
A University of Tennessee, Knoxville grad, Eren joined Uptic Studios in August 2024 with a few internships under her tool belt—one in construction and a few in commercial architecture and design. She primarily helped design the building envelopes of churches and worship spaces, but she also worked on the interior design of daycare centers, pet clinics, franchise restaurants, and even a dog park. Now, she thoroughly enjoys residential work since that is where she feels a deeper meaning in creating someone’s true sense of “home.”
Outside of work, she loves running, hiking, mountain biking, snowboarding, and playing the piano. Since moving to Spokane, she has fallen in love with evergreen trees and exploring local coffee shops. Indaba is currently her favorite.
Eren enjoys learning from the talented designers around her at Uptic, and she stays inspired by the pursuits of people close to her. Her faith keeps her motivated, solidified by all the time she spends outdoors, which she sees as God’s architecture.
Events
Beyond our office, our commitment to stewardship extends into our community as well. We believe in showing appreciation for those who make our work possible, from clients to contractors.
One way we are doing this is through our appreciation bouquets, thoughtfully designed by our procurement team, who double as floral enthusiasts, Julie and Alyssa.

In June, this tradition takes on a unique twist, as we celebrate the often-overlooked contribution of our contractors, many of whom are men. Research shows that men rarely receive flowers in their lifetime. A small but powerful gesture that aligns with our values of gratitude and recognition. This month, these bouquets are more than just a token of appreciation; they’re a reminder of the partnerships and shared efforts that make each project possible.
